Rock, wind and sand

As I was waiting for a river ferry crossing I meandered around the sandy shore in search of anything of interest. The wind blows almost continually along the Fraser River here near Lytton, BC so the sand was filled with ripples from the wind.
This nearly buried rock and the play of sand around it caught my eye.
Not sure why I chose the exposure settings I did but that's what the EXIF data tells me:

Sony A350/ Sigma 17-70mm @ 24mm
1/640 F13 ISO400

Great composition. I really like the detail of the rock and ripples in the sand.

I think this is great! I thought it had a softer appearance from the thumbnail. I might try and achieve that with a little less contrast, or some slight diffusion?

Timothy,

Simple and very effective. An intimate and nicely seen image. No complaints or suggestions here.

An excellent shot. I love the patterns and the break of those patterns the rock creates. A minor point but I could see it as well with a small crop off the top. Either way its a beauty

This is great. You found a way to tell a nice story of how the rock obscures the wind patterns.

Very nice patterns and texture. I like the area of no ripples below the rock which is almost like a leading line in a sense. The processing looks great on this.
