Tunnel of Love

A little corny I admit, and NO, the title has nothing to do with my trip with Dan.... But the title does come from my love of this place and I do see a little bit of an arch way, or a tunnel through this stand of black oak. So, the corny title.

This was captured about 4 hours or so after Dan's recent post. What a glorious day in the Valley it was. The sun began peeking through the clouds early in the afternoon and by 1pm, snow started melting from the trees. We stopped in El Capitan Meadow to catch some of that light before heading home.

Comments and critique always welcome. Thanks!

Lon

Looked at the thumbnail before the name (no comment on the title  ), JK, very well seen. Certainly worth shooting and very nicely done. Not sure if a bit more of the tree tops in the FG would help the "tunnel" effect?

Although I enjoy the grand vistas and majestic mountain peaks, when it comes to hanging prints on the wall, I prefer the intimate landscapes. This is a pleasing scene and a perfect example of what I consider a wall worthy image.

I'm bad at coming up with good titles myself, so no comments there.

Very nice. I like the subtle colors that come through when you open the larger photo. Seems like it was a good day.

I agree with Martin, this just looks like it should be a big print on the wall. If you want to send me one I'll try it out and let you know what people say  I think this is wonderful Lon.

Jason - nope, did not get this with the 4x5. Hopefully I got something similar but I won't know for a few days yet.

The contrast created by the snow covered tree trunks and branches really helps to emphasize the tunnel effect. I like how the brighter portion of the bg is slightly off-center as well. Well seen and captured.

Very pretty scene, Lon. The title is rather suspect, but fine image. You ARE becoming a digital snapper! Your 4x5 gear will be for sale on the LF in no time at all. Turncoat!

I think I recognize those trees!!! The west end of El Cap Meadow, near that oak I like so much? The amount of snow stuck to all the limbs is what I really like most here. Of course the comp is good, that's pretty much a given when you're the one lookin' through the viewfinder!

Digital madness! I like this a lot, Lon. Simple and yet complex all at once. The hint of color in the trees is really nice.

Dan, huh........? Jk Lon, a superb image. The curved in tree make for an appealing comp. I love the touches of dark orange leaves scattered about.
Wonderful job and well seen by you.....no surprise though

Nice image, Lon. The comp is solid and the lighting is good. I do prefer some of your other winter scenes posted in recent weeks, but I would still be proud to own this one.
