Winter Tranquility

I really wanted to bring out the bare winter branches of these lakeside trees in the mist. I lowered the blue channel in raw conversion as the highlights were initially white. I'd appreciate your views on the highlights- are they too strong?. Thanks!

Very nice idea with the natural framing here. The toning together with the misty mood looks great too. I might darken the reflection of the sun just a little as it almost seems brighter than the original light source. The rest looks wonderful.

Very nice idea. I'm ok with the reflection, as is. I would consider reducing the opacity of the foreground limbs some. I almost feel like I have to struggle to look past them, but as a whole this is really good.

Very cool photo Matthew. I especially like the way the bold FG limbs stand out and frame the soft misty view of the island. As Andreas stated the sun could be toned down a bit, but in my opinion the sun in the sky, not the sun in the reflection. But again, very cool just the way it is, my favorite of the day so far. :toast:

Personally, I often don't find "frame" shots like this very effective. But this is a beautiful exception. The stark foreground limbs are a wonderful accent.

I like the comp and the monotone color. The light looks perfectly natural to me.

Neat effect, Matthew. The warms light and the silhouetted branches work great together. I can see maybe darkening the upper and left edges some to better complete the framing concept put in place by the branches.

Nice to see something a bit different and well done! Comp, colors and light are all very nice. I might favor a slight blur added to the edges of the bottom portion (tree tops) of the reflection. I like the way softened transition in the tree tops above and think if applied to the reflection it would be a nice addition. Good stuff!
