Last Light, Last Stand

Making pictures has to fit into my work schedule. On the road home from a business trip I decided to stop on CA Highway 88 in the Sierra whenever the light showed promise. This Western Red Cedar snag was captured a few minutes after sunset. I like the uncomplicated but detailed subject in warm light. I hope someday my work schedule won't dictate the photo opportunities.

Nice and simple, I like it. Seems like a good candidate for B&W as well. Know what you mean about work dictating photo opportunities . . .

The tree sure looks like it's been through a lot. The B&W was a good suggestion - I think you could enhance the contrast in the conversion a little more still.

The B&W white is my favorite too. Would paint some light into the tree to emphasize the textures.
