WB Nuthatch

Another Nuthatch, but I like the non traditional pose.

The water dish is bringing in a few more birds because everything else is frozen. After they drink a little they jump on the perch and hang for a few seconds.

The biggest problem I have with Nuthatches is the white around the eye. I like a more contrasty photo and sometimes the whites get pretty near too hot. This one is pretty close.

Cloned out the second catch light and some dust spots. Small crop from the bottom.

EOS 1D, 400 2.8 w/1.4 converter, ISO 250, 1/800 @ f8, flash @-1, tripod.

Comments and critiques are appreciated.

Thanks.

This perch really works for you. I like the bokeh and the detail. The exposure looks perfect.

Nice photo of the Nuthatch Jerry, my favorite yard bird. I like the positioning of the bird in the photograph and the perch adds a nice element. Well done.

I like the flow of this image with the nice perch. BG is great. I'd prefer a bit more on the bottom and a bit less on top.

Jerry

I like the non-traditional pose too, how this makes me feel the bird was curious about your presence and the wonderful exposure. I especially like seeing the detail in the perch in the larger version, reminds me of burl wood in a way. The bird also looks like he is on the nose of a wooden statue.

The exposure and perch are beautiful in this image, Jerry. The snooty little nuthatch looks disdainfully interested in us. :toast:

Very nice shot, Jerry. I like the perch and pose. The whites look fine on my monitor. In fact, I would brighten the image slightly to give it a bit more pop.
