Headed up to Dream Lake for shooting the ice and nothing but the ice for the first time. I've always had other motives so I never took the time.

D300, 24-85 f2.8-f4 @ 66mm (99mm 35ev) f11, 1/125, ISO 200, tripod, LR2 to WB toward blue, CS3 to sharpen and save for web.

I agree with Floris. This is well seen, and your processing decisions were on the money.

Very nice image, Jared. The strong diagonals and tonal variation make this work well. As I look at this I find it interesting that the different lakes seem to have their own fingerprint. Having seen the variety of images from Dream Lake posted on NPN in recent years it always seems that the patterns in the ice are very similar from year to year. However, they are distinctly different from those patterns found at Abraham Lake as evidenced by the great images that have been posted recently by different photographers. Anyway, I digress but I find it interesting that at least these two lakes seem to have their own unique "personalities".

Incredible! I've never seen a photo like this before. It's "otherworldly". It looks like something one might see on the science channel. Good job.
