Formation of Indian Elephants in the meadows of Corbett National Park. This is almost full frame, while processing the image, I observed that croping out left elephant completly, presented a more balanced composition. Would be keen to know your view on this.
Canon 40D, 500mm, Iso 200, 1/250 sec. at f 6.3
Thankyou so much for your kind attention & views !

This is a wonderful group portrait, Jagdeep! The composition is lovely - I think you are right in that excluding the left elephant would improve it further, but to be honest, I really like this as is and dont think that elephant detracts much at all.. Well seen and well captured

Jagdeep, terrific shot of this herd. I think I might like to see the photo with the left elephant cropped out for comparison.

Amazing capture Jagdeep. Only someone who spends a lot of time with a herd and is patient and dedicated enough can create an image like this. :toast:

I don't mind the left elephant at all - this is a wonderful portrait of - I'm assuming - a family group with all ages of calves.
Excellent!

Love the warm light. Nice cascade of elephants & they are sharp from the first one to the last. Loved the texture of their skin in the large image. This I guess would look real good on a large print.
Regarding the crop, either ways works fine for me.

Hi Jagdeep,

I find this to be a tremendously interesting image - the thumbnail definitely doesn't do it justice at all. Interestingly, the leftmost calf (the one with the whole head showing) really grabs my attention and almost becomes (to me) the primary subject here. But everything works well here - love how the long telephoto lens has "collapsed" all the elephants and put them all pretty much on the same plane.

In terms of the crop - great as is, but I think better with the leftmost elephant cropped out. Definitely a personal preference issue...

Cheers...

Brad

Amazing image Jagdeep, I have always wanted to see asian elephants in the wild and I hope I will get there when I'm older. Congrats :toast:
