Free Jumper

Caught this free jumping sailfish while fishing this past weekend in Guatemala. I've gotten hundreds of photos of hooked sailfish but this is the first one of a free jumper that came out OK even though we see them all the time. This one jumped about 8-9 times before deciding it had enough. All comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Hi Joe,

Wow, good timing in capturing this free jumper in this position - well done! In my mind there's not much you should have done too differently on the capture. Ultimately I wouldn't mind seeing the fish a little further to the right in the frame (opening up a little more room on the left) and thus move away a little from the "dead-centre" composition, tho' I completely appreciate why the capture was made this way (so I'm suggesting a crop). One other post-processing things comes to mind - if the image were mine I'd experiment with selectively lightening up fish a little to separate it a little more (in tone) from the background water...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

nice timing indeed. it reminds me a Poseidon launched by a submarine...
for me more room on the left could have helped but it's just an opinion.

cheers Luca

really nice. I am wondering if a vertical comp might work here ?

Thanks folks! I was able to crop it a bit to give some more room to the front and it does look better. I also brighened up the fish a tad and it makes it pop. Thanks again for the suggestions.

I bet you were smiling the moment of the click with a thought something like, "I got it!"
