The more familiar I become with this beautiful and ancient woodland the more of its many secrets it seems to reveal...

That is a great title because it really does have an enchanted feel to it. I love those twisted branches!

Asbolutely wonderful Tristan!

Giovanni

P.S:
Is that a lens flare on the middle-right (on the tree trunk) ? An easy fix!

Thanks Giovanni. It is most likely a spot of rain as it was pouring down at the time. Tristan

Actually, looking at the full res scan it is caused by the branch changing angle and reflecting more light - not a raindrop. I've darkened it down in this version, it is still visible on the larger version. Tristan

Stan: Personal taste on the border I guess. However I've removed the yellow fuji text :-)

I know this was yours from the thumbnail. 47mm? You must be using a center filter. It doesen't look wide angle till you look at it and see all the depth.

BTW, I really like it. Nice subtle color.

Thanks Dan. Yes I recently came across a second-hand IIIc (2 stop) centre filter which is specific for the 47mm lens. Although you can get away without a centre filter at all on colour neg film it really does help to hold good detail in at the edges.

wow.. very dramatic view indeed. Tristan, tones are great, and the perspective really captures the attention from top to bottom, with the "V" trunks that also adds depth. Good jo here!

Wonderful Tristan, this really is an enchanting forest! I like the subtle colors and misty atmosphere. The border doesn't work for me, but it's the image that matters

This is real nice, Tristan. It sounds like you're discovering this place was made for you. It's true. The light's been waiting a long time for you to show up.

Oh wow...this is really, really nice. Very primitive looking environment and your composition is perfect to showcase that wonderful FG tree without losing the interesting trees in the BG. Very nice, Tristan.

i like this as well tristan - well composed and very moody. the flare-sort-of effect in the middle is a little disturbing? i've read where it comes from; it would be good to see the adjusted image!

47mm? Wow! That's a heck of a wide angle lens. I'm curious what lens it was? The wide angle gives those V shaped branches a very spooky feel as they loom overhead. The atmospherics are also very nice.

A great image, and the way the branches wiggle across the mist, and the way the two trunks emerge and expand to the upper corners really create a powerful and evocative image. Excellent !
