Besar, the Sumatram tiger at the Miller Park Zoo, enjoyed playing in his pool. Gone now, he was one of the oldest Sumatrans in the country.

I debated cropping out the log, any thoughts?

Canon STi, Tamaron 18-200mm lens.

I'd keep it. A decent, albeit not essential, foreground element.

Nice picture of this tiger, John. I would crop out the log. Doing a scroll crop here to just above the log and below the paws as much as possible looks much better to me. It would be close to a 4 x 5 size crop. It puts more of the focus on the tiger IMO.

This tiger is giving you an excellent portrait pose here John and the paws dangling over the ridge give it something playful. I have no problem at all with the log, but it could work just as well without IMO. I would suggest to selectively brighten the tiger just a tad to make it pop out of its environment a bit more and bring its vibrant natural color to live.

Nice potrait John! Personally I wuld crop out the log to focus the attention more on the tiger, but it works with the log as well. :wavey:

I would not crop out the log completely but I might cut it off at about the middle to reduce its presence a bit. I also agree that the tiger needs to be brightened up a little especially in the face and head.

Thanks for all of the comments. My PSE 7 skills leave much to be desired, however I have tried to lighten the tigers face, cropped out the log, and cloned out a couple of items that could be distracting. Let me know what you think.

I appreciate all of the comments, thanks again.
