WC#420 - Knucker
by Katja Rosvall
I stumbled onto this dragon in a forest and did what Paul Duval did: grabbed a shot and split. I didn't like the way it was eyeing me, so better safe than sorry. I certainly wasn't going to tell anyone about this encounter though; the neighbour keeps cows and might overreact!
This dragon has a long neck, short limbs and no wings, so it's probably a Draco troglodytes (I'm not certain of its English name, as my guide book is translated; "Knucker" is what I found by Googling, but it's translated as "Cave Dragon"). Speaking of which, I recommend the book. It's Dragonology by Dugald Steer et al.; you can find it in Amazon. Granted, it's too big for a field guide, but as long as you have a camera, you can do the ID'ing at home. You don't want to hang around a dragon with your nose in a book anyway!
Thank you for looking.
