Texas state bird

The mockingbird is the official state bird of Texas. I thought this one looked very handsome in nice light and with a pretty blue sky. I made the photo in a large urban park a couple of miles from home in Dallas.

Nikon D200 w/ MF Nikkor 300/2.8 and TC 14.

Nice perch, pose and compostion. Maybe a little work to brighten up that yellow eye would help this a little. Sharon

Robert:
I like the profile view. It is a handsome bird, the light is nice, and I would like to see more of the blue sky (in Pensacola). In the larger version, some noise is visible that could be easily removed to improve the nice image of the handsome Mockingbird.
Your comment prompted me to look on the web for a listing of state birds. The Northern Mockingbird is the state bird of Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. The Northern Cardinal is more popular, being the state bird of seven states.

Robert,

I like the light, the setting, the mockingbird's pose and the way its head is tilted. The angle seems a little steep, I wonder if cropping some from the bottom and having more space above the bird would minimize that some. there appears to be some loss of detail in the larger version, if that was caused by a large crop cropping looser might help with that.
