I like the Heron fluffing here Sue, Looks like should be good detail in the bird. Hopefully, at f/5, the log behind the bird should be blurred enough to seperate the heron. Looks like good detail in the snow. Just hard to tell with this size photo.

Nice shot sue he is giving a nice pose and I think you have placed him in the frame very nicely.Not sure but you may get away with brightening the whole image just a touch.
