Rock ledge in Encinitas, CA. A very nice creamy winter sunset! The comp was very much influenced by the position of the moon.

These ledges are a neat phenomenon, and I really enjoy this image of them. A very pretty combination of colors here too.

I like the moon horizontally centered in this comp.
Just wondering -- is this a slightly longer focal length than your wider shots of this feature, or did you move closer?

Wayne - you're right, this was a slightly longer focal length, I had backed away from the ledge a bit in order to get a tighter shot. But not too much - the last one I posted was at 17mm,I believe this was 25 or so (I dont have the metadata handy, sorry)

Thanks Daniel, I thought the key to getting the size of the moon to look natural was a focal length somewhere between 28 and 50 mm., but with APS-C sensors, I guess we can downsize a bit. The moon in your shot at 25 mm. looks good. Of course, the moon size is sort of a deceptive illusion, as we can see with our naked eye when it's close to the horizon, and appears to be huge.

Really nice lines in the foreground and great composition and color. Centering the moon with the foreground design works very well. excellent work.

Daniel, very simple comp. It resembles a plug in a bath tub and the moon is going down into it.
