Perfect Love

Any flower that comes into the house becomes a photography subject  This bouquet is for weekend entertaining  or so it says in small print. I'm not planning on adding it to the Vegetarian Chili.

This is one of several shots taken while the flowers were fresh and I especially liked the angle from which I could capture the shot.

D700
60mm lens
f/8
1/50s
-2 EV
ISO 200
spot meter
tripod, cable release
Manual Exposure

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions, and a very Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all.

Looks good, Carol. Nice choice of dof and colors, and the comp is pleasing. I can relate. Especially when the weather isn't the best, potted plants can be the best subjects. And when you are done, you get to plant the bulbs outside. :jump:

I like the black BG Carol. I'd almost like to see a bit more DOF so that both of the FG flowers were sharp, but even so it's a fine image.

Carol, I like this...the diagonal really leads the eye. Colors and contrasts are bright and dof for the center one is tack sharp. I do think I would have liked the dof and size to continue in the direction of larger and clearer...perhaps forwarding the far left blossom to greater prominance and sharpness would be interesting experiment. As is...superb! Nicely done.

Carol,

I like the colors and the diagonal comp in this a lot. I find the image very appealing as posted and I also like the warm mood of it. I might have given the back flower a touch more space on the viewer's right. Other than that, I think I'd enjoy looking at this on a daily basis, especially through the winter.

I like the BG, I like the focus point and DOf. The highlights of the flowers and stems look a little bright to me (at least om my monitor). But overall I think this is a beautiful image and the large version shows great detail in the two front flowers.

Thank you all for your comments. Unfortunately in the space of only two days, these particular flowers are well on their way to the great flower heaven in the sky; however, this afternoon I did have an opportunity to play with different focal points and combining these images into one. And I'm sure that more Tulips will come home with me.
Hopefully I'll be able to replicate this idea of a curved swath of Tulips and combine it with the idea of having a cluster of FG Tulips very sharp. Should be a fun experiment

Yes, Pat you are right, that rear Tulip needed a skosh more room.

With each shot taken in the wonderful North light I learn something else new such as angling my cardboard away from the light so the black background does not pick up any stray light. I've acquired a white reflective umbrella and need to figure out how to best use it to reflect light where I want it. And I think the most important thing is not just looking at the subject matter but also seeing the subject matter in it's entirety including what's in the background.

Again, thanks for taking the time to view and comment on the image.
