The Lost World

During my visit to Venezuela in January to see my parents, I decided to take a couple of days to spend in Canaima National Park.
This image was taken from the small plane that took me there... Even though Venezuela is experiencing the worst drought in years, you can still see how the area of Canaima looks green and has not lost his magic.

Comments/Critiques always welcome!

This is beautiful. One of these days I'd love to see these places in person. If you haven't yet, I recommend reading the book "1491" which talks about some of the native human history of this area (among others).

I love that winding river, and the dense vegetation - very appropriate title! The low hanging clouds add a great sense of mystery.

Love the "s" shape in the river and the clouds clinging to the top of the mountains.

What a cool area. The winding river leading to the cloaked mountain top is just mysterious. Great job

'Juanito' from Horseshoe Bend here, Edward.

Love the 'S' curve of the river that leads my eye to a beautiful scene that looks unchanged over the millenia. Great clouds, too. Especially good seeing that it was taken from an airplane!

Double "S" curve. Hard to improve on that. The river certainly pulls me in. Are those trees along the river? If so, that is one monster channel!

Like everyone mentioned the 'S' curve really leads the eyes into this scene, fantastic scenery, and well composed from an airplane!.

Nice comp, Edward. The river takes you through the scen real well. Only thing I find myself wanting is maybe a 2 or 3,000 foot waterfall coming off the ridge in the distance.
