Well of Souls

Whenever I am wandering around alone in the forest, I always feel a sense of calm peacefulness. The big trees seem to spread a veil of protection over me as I walk among them. I have always thought of the big trees in Yosemite Valley as ancient spirits, and kindred souls. I hope you enjoy this, and thank you for your thoughts. A larger version is included as well.

Thanks,
Chris

Wonderful fine art image, Chris. Great processing as well. It seems that the darker trees make for good focal points and really help lock the eye into the frame. Nice work.

Neat. It really holds your eye. The combination of straight tree trunks and curving branches is entrancing. :toast:

Chris, this is absolutely superb. The tones and graphic lines of your image leave me speechless. How you utilized those rich blacks of the burned sections of these trees and played those against the higher valued tones in the background, together with the lovely lines of the trees and the branches, is just incredible.

A beautiful image, Chirs. Very nice b/w conversion and processing. The burnt sides of the trees offer wonderful contrast and strength to the lighter bg. Excellent!

Very strong work Chris! It was a good choice to focus on the trunks and work with the lines they provide. I think one of your strongest efforts you have posted here. :toast:

I love the tonal range here Chris and the abstract quality of your presentation. Looks like an amazing place. I visited here only once in the early '90's. Now you have me wanting to return.

Chris, great black and white. The vertical abstract nature of this is awesome. The best part about this, is you took this incredible image with a kit lens. It just goes to show you a $1500 pro lens isn't always necessary.

Wow Chris, this is an amazing comosition and conversion. It retains wonderful tones, yet has the feel of a fine etching. The dark gentle diagonal is perfectly positioned. It does a great job of conveying that peaceful, secure feeling we get in the big woods.
Congrats on the EP!

What a wonderfully textured image, the lights and darks play off each other well, and so do the vertical and horizontal lines.
