A small cove on Koh Miang looking north towards Koh Pabu in the Similan Island chain. These beautiful islands are located in the Andaman Sea 70 kilometers off of the west coast of the Thailand mainland.

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, f/18 @ 21 mm (16-35), 1.3s, ISO 100.

Thanks for looking.

My favourite image of yours yet. The swirls in the foreground water echo the clouds very well. Great composition and processing.

Incredibly dramatic scene you've caught and created here Nicolaus!! The B&W just makes it other worldly to me. wonderful sky and water, just excellent.

Absolutely stunning work Nicolaus. What a cool place. I think you actually make this image stronger if you crop down slightly from the top. Awesome.

A totally beautiful and nearly surrealistic shot. Personally I would consider losing the bottom Right Rock, with a bit of a proportional re-crop. I'm 50-50 on that dark area butted so close to the corner. Nonetheless, it's a spectacular capture to be proud of.

The effect of the soft sky and water give this a very dreamy feeling. I like it.

Comp is truly awesome. Processing-wise, I would probably like to see some more contrast, as the shadows look a bit too open

Wondeful comp, Nicolaus. I like the misty, magical feel to the image. I like how the white sea swirls match the white in the clouds. Fabulous mono conversion.

Thanks for the comments and critiques everyone. I was a bit worried about how this would turn out as I did it on an uncalibrated laptop monitor and used a mouse meant for the hand of a 4 year old to dodge and burn (tiny travel mouses suck!). Seems ok upon looking at now that I am home. I may go over it another time, but I have so many photos to go through from this last month, I'm not sure when that may be....

Thanks again.

Nicolaus,

Wonderful seascape! I love how the action of the tidal surf mimics the clouds in the sky; very cool. The flow through the channel is excellent too, pulling the eye in to the frame and allowing the viewer to explore the background and tie nicely in with the wonderful sky.

Don't think it was mentioned, but I see a little "fogginess" in the midground. I'm sure that sea spray and the atmosphere are at play here, but this seems like it's lacking a little in contrast or something around the middle of the image. Even the lower part of the sky. Not sure if you can see that, maybe it's just me. I think you've got a winner of an image and is definitely one you could spend some additional time on if you were so inclined.
