Light, Rocks, and Snow

Took a much needed break from photos after getting kind of burned out on them.

I've been after this one for a while. I've returned to this spot with either clouds, light or snow, but not all three. Finally got one with everything together.

Ron, this looks like a beautiful scene. The rock looks a little hot for my tastes.

Matt, thanks for the comment. I have a shot a little later with less light on the rocks and a little more color in the clouds (but not much). I decided to go with this one because the light on the rocks is what does it for me with this image.

Pretty! Nice job on the exposure. Id take just a bit off the top and call it perfect. :wavey:

I think this image could be improved a lot with a crop a little above the clouds and a little below the part where the shadow begins. To me, the large amounts of blue sky and areas in shadow don't add anything to the image. This is an image that I think lends itself much more to a panoramic.

This is really pretty Ron. I like the processing a lot too. My only suggestion is a slight crop down on the blue part of the sky. Great work! Michael

The snow complements the red rock so nicely, and the clouds add a lot too. Very pretty.

Nice photo, Ron. The reds look a little oversaturated to me, but then again I wasn't there. The framing doesn't bother me too much although a panoramic composition would also be effective as it would emphasize the line created by the rock formations as they fade into the background.

Beautiful light and I like how the clouds are hanging above the rocky landscape. The snow also adds to the impact of the image overall. Nice work.

Aside from the strong orange colors on the rocks, I really like what you've captured here.

Nice job on this one - I love the contrast between the sandstone and the snow. I agree that it might benefit from a little cropping.

I agree about cropping some of the sky. I've also observed that depending on the web browser used and the monitor, the rocks will look more/less saturated. I've got them where I want them on my calibrated home monitor. The real test will be a hard proof. Thanks for the comments.

Ron, Nice image. I like everthing about it. You could take a little off top. But thats a judgement call in MHO. :toast:
