Canon S2-IS
ISO 100, 1/640 @ f5.6
Taken in 2005 this was a first for me in a number of ways. It was our first trip to Great Sand Dunes NP and my first foray into digital capture. I bought the S2 a couple of days before we left and read the instruction manual when Chrissy was driving. After we arrived at the park we claimed a camp site and set up the tent and other gear. It was getting later in the evening so we decided to take a quick stroll over to the dunes. I brought the camera along just for fun as I didn't really feel like humping the main film rig along with us. I was shooting some of the swirls and sweeps of the dunes when this lone hiker popped into the scene. I got a few others but this was my favorite and it certainly proved out. I won an EP with it and subsequently a few other awards. Not bad for a grab shot. For an inspirational take on the same image go

5 commentsGreat moment and capture. Not sure why I'm thinking this, but it's kinda nice seeing the person being included NOT being a photographer (backpack, tripod over shoulder, etc.)
