Tree Peony

Our tree peony has blossomed wildly. About 50 are on hand. It is shortlived...2-3 weeks at best.

Zeiss 35 mm, f16, 6 sec, Indoor window filtered light with board
Nikon D300

I've hit a creative wall regarding the background. I place the blossom in a 12 oz tumbler to lift it up and away from the b/g. Then shoot. My wife is also blah about both white and black b/g. Ideas are welcome.

Great presentation! It is so hard to isolate and capture the textures. You've nailed it. :toast:

Excellent comp. For me it's tough to shot these tree peonys and have them look anything more than a snapshot. You've done well. I might try to brighten up/blur the background whit borad to give a more dreamy effect.

Nice one Ken. I like the dreamy appearance. For some reason, makes me think its submerged in water.

Ken: I like this one a lot. The delicate color and sharp petal edges create a very appealing tension. For me this BG is a fine complement. Well done.>=))>

Strong comp! I would add more contrast, but that is a personal choice. The dof is superb for showing off the details and textures.

This is superb for my tastes Ken. Lighting, comp, textures - IMO this is as good as it gets.
