Veratrum II

Posted a similar image to this last June. This is another veratrum or false hellebore grouping again found in Alaska in the spring a number of years ago. Tony Kuyper's masks were as always extremely valuable in processing the M1 scan. May be a little on the saturated side for some.
4x5, 210mm Sironar, 81C filter (was in open shade), Velvia.

Any suggestions or comments or ideas are really appreciated.

Large image provided

Thanks.

This doesn't even look real. One of my favorite images of all time, hands down. Wow!

Vance,

I was going to say this has to be Velvia and I was right. Awesome green! Beautiful arrangement.

I could look at this for a long time Vance. Love all the detail and the image has such great depth. I think it would probably work as a B&W also. The thumbnail really stands out. :toast:

you're demanding comparison, vance, which leads to preferences being stated ... so here goes: my preference is for the darker, more muted treatment of the previous image. still, i am deeply envious and this is yet another superb image.

It is very saturated but it's so beautiful, I don't mind. I like it that way. The tonalities of the leaves are just great and I love those little brown/yellow highlights.

I loved the other one, and went back to it to compare, but this does seem to be even better! Not sure what it is but it has even more appeal for me. A bit more direct - I think you are a bit closer here which simplifies the comp. a bit more.

Vance,

It's just not fair, almost photographically criminal. I bet you never got a comment like that before.

As already mentioned, I could stare at this for a long, long time. And I wish I had this in my portfolio.

Just stunning - no other words.

In this image, saturation actually seems to create a sort of monochomaticity (how's that for a new word?). I really like the intensity. The sharpness and detail in this are just incredible. Well done, as always.

It may be a little too saturated for me, but just a tad. What makes the image for me is the amazing shapes and textures of the leaves - really nice!
