Lake Wedington in Fall
by Tony Colvin
I have been admiring eveyones talent on here for along time now, but I am photoshop challenged and fairly new to digital so I haven't posted anything yet until now. All comments would be greatly appreciated to point me in the right direction.
This was taken last fall in the pouring rain in N/W Arkansas.
Canon 40D 28-105mm at 4 seconds and f29 on tripod. I re-sized it with PS7.
Thanks for your time.

18 commentsthe autumn colors are just great
in my opinion i would prefer to include more trees and a little bit less reflex and maybe the image is a little bit tilted.
congrats again for this really nice autumn portrait

Alessandro gave you some good advice. After correcting the tilt, maybe a panoramic crop that removes about half the water and changes this from a 50/50 composition to a 60/30 composition would make it a little stronger.
but I feel that you may have some color cast concerns. I'm not sure
that the tree trunks, which are kind of blue on my monitor, are showing
the realistically correct color. Nevertheless, it's a great reflection and a
lovely compositon.
Again, Thank you all for the help.
Welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery. This is a very lovely autumn and reflection image for your first post. I'm with the others who love the reflection and the muted patterns and colors.
Great comments from folks and I would agree with the blues in the trunks and the slight tilt, which is pretty easy in PS.
It also looks like this took a pretty good hit in compression while prepping this for the web. I'll post a link at the end.
But before that I wanted thank you from framing your post such that folks know at what stage you're at with processing, etc. It really helps us in how we can respond and comment. I wish more folks would provide a little more insight so we can comment more than, "nice picture."
A few things to check out:
Sharpening techniques in the NPN articles section.
Check out Tony Kuyper's tutorials and PS actions (should work with PS7)
Also, just check out the NPN articles section in general. Search for color management and learn about calibrating your monitor if you haven't already. That will be key especially when trying to judge things like color and saturation.
If that doesn't keep you busy for the next couple years....
Good luck and welcome aboard.
