Fabulous composition, Andrew! I love to see somebody else doing underwater, and it's extraordinary difficult to get a composition like this with moving subjects and moving photographer...
I guess this was shot without a strobe. Can you give some technical details? And where did you shoot this?
Thanks,

Nice for sure Andrew. I can only imagine how difficult photography like this is. I would be shaking too hard from fear of sharks to even get a shot I am sure!
Great lines and comp.

Thanks Jesus! I did use a strobe, set on low power; the spadefish would have been a complete silhouette otherwise. My best guess on the settings are f/8 at 1/125th, using Provia 100. I use a Nikon F4, 18mm/3.5 lens, in an Aquatica housing.
I was lucky to have this school circling me for about 5 minutes, right under the boat. The water in the Bahamas can be fabulously clear, like it is here. Cheers...

Underwater photography is an art all on its own do doubt. Increadble colours and the sense of another world....

The image is fantastic as everyone notes.
I am concerned that your dive boat appears to be carrying a torpedo?!

Hehe Jim... We called them that too, but of course they're just the engines. Kind of an interesting dive boat, based on some high-tech Navy design. It's really just a big, floating platform resting on these two big pontoons. They can be adjusted up and down for the sea conditions, meaning the boat is really stable in choppy water. Good news for the queasy crowd...
