Not Just Bonnets & Brushes
Sony A700
Minolta 24-85 @ 55mm CPL
ISO 100, 1/15 @ f11

Got out into the Hill Country again yesterday. Not the best conditions - windy and bright - but it was a glorious day and the scenery was spectacular again. What a season this has been. Found this scene at the end of the day and liked the shadow play. All comments welcome.>=))>

Nice backlighting on the trees, and the tree's shadow is a neat addition. You stamped that Hill Country signature on this by including the cactus in the back. I can't wait for these guys to start blooming around here.

Hi Bill, never been to Texas, so I'm really enjoying your floral landscapes. I too like the shadow play here. Nicely composed shot.

Hi Bill :wavey: Just viewed the larger version  and I'm greatly impressed. Looking through the beautifully lit FG of flowers and trees. i see this shaded BG which really produces a wonderful contrast. Superb composition and use of light. :toast:

Bill, found myself looking through the pic for the prickly pear. Was just about to be disappointed and then I spotted it. Nice job. I like the shot a lot.

Amazing what you did given the lighting here, Bill. I think letting the tree extend its shadow into the field helps a lot. Expertly done.

The backlighting in the tree is particularly striking, Bill. Even though the lighting conditions were not the best you definitely came away with a winner.

I really like this, Bill. Even before reading your comments, the first thing that popped into my mind was that I could just feel a nice quiet wind rustling thru the leaves and grasses. Maybe it's the shadows on the ground that impart a sense of movement. Well done. :toast: :toast:

I really like the play of the shadows too, Bill. My first thought was that the trees with their intricate patterns added too much to the image and pulled the eye away from the meadow. Then I viewed the larger image.

Bill, I think you really have two images here. The first is a square crop from the top in which the trees are the primary subject and there's only a hint of the meadow and shadows at the foot of the trees.

The second image, Bill, would be the meadow and it's wonderful pattern of shadows with the cacti in the UR corner and just the trunk of the tree.

I think you would end up with two great images.

Excellent use of light and shadow, Bill. I really like this, and I think it is as much about the comp as any other element.
