A Taboret's Dream

by Anthony Vincent

I found this little oasis of color amongst some dirt hills. There was not much growing and this small explosion of color made me happy. This is pretty much the extent of the patch of growth and I thought it was interesting to find such a garden on a hillside of earth.

I made the analogy of an artists' taboret as it reminded me of painting. I don't paint but I can see an artist collecting colors from their palette and dabbing them onto a canvas.

Thanks for your time and comments.

Canon 40D
I'll look up the data if anyone is interested

Love it Anthony. A little abstract, great colors, good exposure. It would be nice to see it bigger for all those little details. :toast:

This is great Anthony, truly an explosion of color and textures. Just beautiful - wish there was a larger version.

Thanks everyone,
I was going to upload a larger version but not quite sure if I can now. I agree some shots need a larger view to appreciate.

Anthony, I'm trying to get some perspective, is this taken from above or is this like a 90 degree hillside? Very interesting take. It looks like Sumac in the fall. What a beautiful display of color. It reminds me of some of Monet's garden paintings. Love the mix of colors.

Thanks Dean,
Your exactly right. I was positioned on an opposing hill and actually quite vertical myself to include what I wanted. The slope is 90 deg. and was taken this past september. Good eye as the sumac turns beautiful colors then.

Hi Anthony :wavey: A superb palette of color. Just goes to show you what an artist nature is. And what an artist you are.

Yes, Vincent, it certainly is painterly. I have no suggestions for
improvement or changes. You may never see anything quite
like this again. Congratulations on your find and your technical
handling of it. I'm sure that you'll make a print of this.

Wow, what a find. Seems a touch flat in the shadows, but I have been liking darker true shadows lately. A wonderful image though.

What a find indeed, this is really fine work Anthony. The comp you chose is great and the splashes of colors all around just keeps my eye moving around nicely on this one.

I love the bursts of color in this! Some might worry about the saturation being over done, but I love the richness. I like it even better with a bit cropped from the top.

Fascinating collection of colors Anthony! Just a little more punch in the blacks be nice IMO - there's a little bit of a hazy feel to the contrast. This looks like fall and spring merged together somehow, how cool!
