Trout Lily

Drooping flowers beg to be seen from below. I have been looking for a trout lily that I could shoot from a low angle, so I was glad to find this one on the edge of a little hill. This is one plant where I always want to include its unique leaf. I did that here, but I'm still not thrilled with the composition. The spreading leaves just seem to cover too much real estate. I'll keep looking for that illusive perfect angle.

The leaves don't overwhelm the beautiful lily in this composition, but they are a source of divided interest. I guess you just have to go with what you have/made. I really don't have any nits about this image, though. Sometimes what appears to divide a viewer's attention should really be considered a feast for the eyes. I think this fits that category.

Wayne, I can appreciate the energy you expended to capture this beauty. After venturing out three different times, I learned this beauty doesn't always open up. Your capture is at one of those rare moments. Very nicely captured. Getting down to its level was the challenge for me! And once down.... :toast: :toast:

Wayne, Works extremely well as presented for me  - just the perfect angle to make it a low angle while showing the flower in all its beauty. Well done.

The composition works just fine for me and I like seeing it sprouting from its mossy bed with forest floor behind. One minor nit, on my monitor there is a strong red color cast.

I like the pov as well, and I know how much contact you had to make with the ground to get it! I put myself through the same thing this last weekend. Another wonderful environmental portrait from you, Wayne!

Excellent composition Wayne. I like the unusual view from below. Only my wish is to see the full leaf at the left (may be because I'm an engineer an we -engineers- allways like to see complete structure :frown: ) Nicely captured. :toast: :toast:

Wayne, a really nice environmental capture. I like that you included the leaves, as well as a sense of the surroundings. Perfection is indeed illusive; we strive for it, but I don't know that we will ever find it. Great detail and color in the flower; nice DOF also.
