Buttom Bush is able to live with water covering the roots. I guess this is why they're often seen in the Everglades.

Wow, this is an absolutely perfect depiction of this species! The soft light has just enough shadow to illustrate the shape and details, and the black background is just the thing to show it off. QUESTION: Did you use an artificial background for this shot?

I found some of these last August up here in the north, but they were past their prime, so I'll be keeping my eye on them this summer. You have set the bar so high that it will take a lot of work to get anything I am satisfied with.

An excellent exposure and comp, Wayne. As a point of further interest, buttonbush provides food (seeds) for waterbirds and shorebirds. It is also larval host for several varieties of moth, as well as a source of nectar. It is also poisonous to livestock. An interesting plant.

Wayne, in a word AWESOME. The detail is great and what really sets it off with great depth is the leaf at the top of the frame.

What a cool looking flower, Wayne. I love the vertical composition here and the main bloom framed by the younger (greener) ones. Lovely ! :toast:

Well done. Like the 3-D effect of the open flower. The unopened buds are a nice contrast and add a rich color. Might consider just a few pixels off the bottom, but just fantastic as is.

Excellent image.

It's been on my shopping list since last year and after I saw this I ordered three plants.

Wayne: Really good take on this wonderful subject. We had our first button bush bloom last year but I didn't come away with anything as good as this. You've set a standard for me for this season. Excellent shot.>=))>
