Most often when a photo is posted on NPN depicting red flesh all over the face of an animal it depicts the raw harsh truth of life and death. Well, that's the case here, but with the "flesh" being that of a strawberry that this Eastern Box Turtle I found in my yard was more than happy to munch on.

You've got box turtles? I'm envious! I used to see them all the time when I was in Virginia but only 2-3 since then in the wild.

The strawberry juice is a nice touch here. I read the title, saw the thumbnail and it didn't add up in a way to interest me in looking at the posted photo.

LOL, i guessed what was coming here since I saw your post in the WC gallery.
Not many turtles posted around here, so this is especially nice.
Great detail and colors - reminds me of a toddler's messy face.
