Repost- North Maui

Thank you all very much for the constructive feedback on my last post. I had to push the colors and contrast quite a bit more than usual for my postprocessing to bring out the scene, which was originally fairly drab, and the lighting rather flat. With all that tweaking, it's easy to lose your way - consequently on the last post, there were some problems. I have reworked the image based on that feedback, as well as some additional luminosity painting suggestions from Tony Kuyper, and I like this one much more. I have essentially darkened the rocks and toned down the cyan, along with a few other tweaks. For me, it looks more natural, but still quite dynamic.

Canon 5DII. 16-35/2.8. ISO 400. f/16. 2 exposures of 1/6 and 0.5 sec manually blended. See LARGER VERSION for best detail

I think this is a considerable improvement, Doug. I much prefer the darker but still textured rocks in the foreground. You might want to consider posting the original version just to make it easier for folks to see the difference.

The rocks are impressively dark for still showing so much detail. I think that portrays their nature very well and makes this a somewhat surprisingly strong photo. I feel like I'm seeing some color fringing on some of the high contrast edges, but that could be compressing artifacts I guess.

Thanks Tony and Kent. I'm at work, so I can't post the original in the thread, but click here to link to it.

I really feel like this portrays the moment you witnessed. The darker version here over your last is a big improvement. Nice follow up Doug.
Thanks for sharing

Big improvement over the first one. The blues are quite incredible. Sky colors are also a great addition. Beauty of a shot Doug.

Doug,

Beautiful image the second one is a big improvement. Although I know you did more processing, this image has a greater impact and dynamism because it doesn't look over worked. This has a less tweaked and more realistic feel to it if that makes any sense. You have to look at the larger image to really get all the detail.

Doug,

Just wanted to drop back in and say nice job with the rework. The only minor point I see left over is the purple fringing in the LRC where the water meets the rock. Other than that, I think you got it.
