California Wild Flowers

by David Sparks

Gallery: FloraPosted May 25, 201080 views8 comments
Photo taken April 4, 2010 in the Tremblor Range. A friend that I took on a birding photo outing in Florida invited me to California and introduced me to the hopeless feeling of trying to capture the beauty and immensity of the wildflowers in California this spring.
D300, 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6, handheld
1/1250 sec at f/6.3, 18mm
I used the clone tool to remove power lines on the top of the ridge on the left.
Comments and suggestions most welcome.

The hills are alive. Great contrasting colors of a flower filled valley.

David: Wonderful scene superbly captured. Good call on your cloning. My only suggestion would be to crop about 1/2 of the sky to bring even more emphasis to the hills and flowers. Very nicely done.>=))>

Love the color David in both the flowers and the grasses. Between the military and work I've spent a fair amount of time in Ca. and this image immediately looked familiar to me. The detail in the larger version is excellent and I like the comp as well. I do agree with Bill's suggestion to crop down some on the sky, although I would hate to lose the blue that complements that yellow so beautifully. I like the image.

Really nice landscape shot David. I would concur with the suggestion to crop part of the sky, but I would hate to lose the blue portion in the ULC.
