Peneda-Gerês National Park, Portugal

"The magnificence of the mountain. A moment of magic of the Mountain range, a delight for the Nature photographer. Impossible to describe the emotion of doing this photography. I walked trough a rail in the bed and in the slope of the River, when the first light of the Sun was touching the peak of the mountain on the imposing waterfall. The Autumn colors and rains were essential for the success of the scene."

Photo made in 2008, now with new processing it came out of the chest again. The key was light balance between the rocks shadows and mountain lit up and sky, that were going more than 5 Stop of contrast, being impossible to apply split ND filters and get excellent results. So, I finally blended my files, and I suppose this may be the final version of this image, one of my all time favorite :)

Thanks for all your feedback.

Sweet shot and nice job with the blending. If anything, the shadow part appears to me just a TINY bit too light, but that is largely a matter of opinion anyway. Thats a killer waterfall!

I can see why you like it so much. This is excellent! A very nice job on the blend too. A lot of times the area in shadow ends up just too flat. But not here, IMO. The shadows are a little light, but not flat. Very nice!

Blend works great, Hélio. Middle ground could maybe be a bit darker, but overall it looks very natural. Gorgeous place.

This looks great. I'd try darkening the foreground a bit, and you'll have a real winner here!

Love the composition and color. Blend looks very well done to me also. I would not stop the darkening with the mids/shadows and would actually darken the whole image just a little bit. The colors on the top would "pop" just a little more if they were darker too.

Thanks for your thoughts so far.
I made a few adjustments based on feedback, I improved contrast a bit, burned some highlights down in the middle, and some minor light retouches around.
Guess it looks better?

Helio,

Wonderful mountain cascade scene. I thought the original posting was just fine, but the repost looks great too. Excellent composition, filling the frame. This is simply and enjoyable and lovely image.

both images are good to me, must have been impressive being there, I think we all have places we wish we could place on paper and share the beauty of having been there. Great work

That's my kind of place - mountains and water. Great shot, Helio - looks like a place to visit one day.
