Adamus Arch
by Tony Kuyper
Not trying to be a name-dropper here. There really is a good chance, I think, that Marc was the first person to photograph this place, and he's the one who made me aware of it. This is actually a bit of a telephoto rendition. It takes a wide, wide-angle lens to get the entire arch in to one frame in the tight quarters of the canyon. The arch is actually the darker rock in the upper right, so this image is looking at the area to the left of it. I tried some wide-angle shots, but, outside the arch itself, mine looked cluttered and a bit debris-strewn. This tighter comp seemed to accentuate the shapes and colors of the place, which I liked.
I would, as always, be interested in hearing your thoughts on this image and ways it could be changed or improved.
Canon camera, 28-200 lens.

It is really amazing
The exposure is fantastic
I can't think of a single thing I would change. This is exquisite! It's so very clear to me that your processing mastery really shines in this presentation. Even down to the shadow area where there is just a hint of detail in that faint, vertical strip. The tonal range for a color photograph is simply amazing here.
I don't see how this could be improved. Comp, processing or otherwise.
Masterful work Tony despite your crack and rock habits.

Great work as always Tony
Simple, nice gradients of captivating color, yet good contrast between adjacent pieces. The full range of slot canyon colors. Diagonals, arches and triangles lead to the light in the upper left.
