This image was taken at the Huntington Botanical Gardens located in San Marino, California. There was a certain shape to this tree that caught my eye.

Sweet, Ken! It's got kind of a posterized/HDR look to it that's pretty apparent, but I still really like it. Wild stuff. So much to look at everywhere and quite the unique collection of subjects.

I did some HDR with this image to bring out the unusual shape and textures of the image. Thanks for the feedback.

Wow Ken, this has to be the most unique thing I've seen here in a while. It really makes the viewer wonder where in the world is this? The texture is amazing!

Ken,
I almost don't know what to say. I can say that I have a little smile on my face... this is as great as it is unique. Processing almost puts this in the Photo Art category for me, but then I wasn't there to see this in persona and could be pretty close to reality, don't know. One thing is for sure, like Tony said, I don't think I've seen anything like this here on NPN. Wild and fascinating. Glad you shared this.

Lon - I had to think back a bit and refer to the original image. The only major thing that I did on this image was to adjust the contrast, otherwise, it is what was presented to me. It was a very unusual capture and I too almost want to chuckle over it. --Ken

Ken, it's probably worth noting that although you state "contrast is the only major thing" you did to this image, the only major thing that is apparent to most folks would be the HDR effects you mention above - it's a far cry from how it came out of the camera in terms of look and feel IMO. Now, again, that's not a bad thing, but I just wanted to offer my perspective on how noticeable it is. I'm sure it would be a very nice shot without it as well. The details could hardly be better aligned.

I want to clarify that my second comment had meant to say the only "other" major thing I did was ... sorry if this caused some confusion. The HDR was very lightly applied in Photomatix.

This looks surreal - not necessary in a bad way. Technically you went in a direction that makes this one look almost like a colored illustration. Some may like it and some may not. Definitely inspiring and different at least. Nice one, Ken.

Wild--im glad i caught this, what an unusual subject, and nice comp of it.
I have one very important suggestion: LOSE THE FRAME!!! I want to see it at the maximum postable size--save your frames for the art gallery

What the hell? I definately wouldn't want to go running through this forest! It is definately unique, and amazingly interesting. Looks like it came out of some sci-fi soft porn or something!!!

Looks like it belongs on a page from "Where The Wild Things Are"! What a unique scene and image - does this place really exist?

Such a strange grouping of vegetation. I love the sights all over the frame Ken.
Love to see this on a plain black background and a little bit bigger

I love how trees look like they are Divas posing and you have found one that looks like you witnessed JLo walking past you. I love it.

Very different and very intruiging Ken. It definitely gets your attention and holds to try and figure out what exactly it is I am looking at. Well seen!
