Very good use of the grad. The reflection on the water has a certain magical feel to it. The light on the lower left foreground rocks gives the feel that rain is near. No nits from me.

Undoubtedly a real "McDermott". Great sky with so much drama that you feel the clouds pressing down on you. Excellent job, Eva.

I love the way the rocks dissappear into the sea.

This really sings in the larger version... particularly the colors of the submerged stones. Love the mood captured here.

Eight minutes later. Same beach, slightly different view. As I look back, the morning I tried to photograph here was the the most fantastic and dynamic I ever witnessed with the ever changing light typical on Cape Breton Island. I should probably make a "film strip" of all the changing light scenes within an hour's time frame that I witnessed. It was a fantastic morning and almost unbelievable. Maybe I will be lucky enough in Oct 2010 to witness the same light conditions with the 5DM2 (2008 and 2009 were not so productive with better cameras). Hope you see why I love ths place.

Thanks all for your comments and input.

Moody and very beautiful. The sky looks heavy enough to fall. I'm always amazed at the images you present from this shoreline area.

Eva,

This certainly does have your classic combination of sky and sea/landscape. This one is certainly more subdued than the second posting, but as others have mentioned I'm really enjoying the submerged stones fading in to the sea.

What I really love about the 2nd image aside from the wonderful colors is the additional space given to the stones; which I'm wishing were present in the top posting. but then they are both different images. Nice work with both. I prefer the overall impact of the second one.

Both are very nice! normally. I'd think I would lean toward the one with more color. But I'm not so sure here. The light in the first is real nice, and I like the reflections on the water. In addition to the color, I also like the flatter/calmer water. It lets you see even more of the rocks submerged and dissappearing into the deepths.

the 2nd version might be the prettier one but I go for the original version. its all about the mood it evokes. like I told you before - I love those brooding moods. not many can capture them as well as you.

Both images have a wonderful mood to them. I happen to like the 2nd image better due to the shift in composition, more color on the foreground rocks and that wonderful sky, excellent work, well done.

These are great, and it is interesting to see the 2 shots. They sure do have your signature on them. I do like the inclusion of the extra rocks in the foreground and the sky color in the second one. Both nice work.

A very special scene - moody and dark but thoroughly enjoyable. It is interesting to see the stones slowly disappear with the distance. The heaviness of the sky suits the composition very well.

I think I remember the +8 min photo from some time past (or maybe just your signature pic), and I immediately guessed this new one was yours from the thumbnail. I really like seeing into the rocks through the water, and I think that interest balances well against the dark forbidding sky.
