Four for the future

These 4 red wolf pups were born at the Miller Park Zoo about 8 weeks ago. They will be part of the red wolf recovery program sometime in the future. This was my first chance to photograhy them out of the nest box. All 4 stayed together for only a couple of frames before they split up. Taken through glass.

Canon 50-250mm lens @ 110mm
HH, spot meter. OS on.

Very nice given the circumstances, John.
Thanks for keeping us updated on these little guys.
I like how the one is in play mode while the others are in caution mode.
You seem to be getting the most out of your gear. Keep it up  !

Hi John,

Neat shot of a very rarely photographed species. Given it was shot through glass the quality is quite good and I like the very simple colour palette and the near diagonal produced by the line of the pups heads.

I haven't kept on top of the Red Wolf situation in the last year or two, but recall an argument that the Red Wolf reintroduction plan was running into stumbling blocks due to hybridization with coyotes (and even that the Red Wolf was a Coyote-Gray Wolf hybrid). Are you able to provide a very brief response (just purely curious)?

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Great shot John, love the green setting..Looks natural even if they're at a zoo.
Well managed exposure too, looks like it was pretty bright & sunny.
Good comp, they're all facing forward, and I like the playful Grrrr I hear from the one second-left
Well done :toast:
