I Dream of the Sea

Up early for a sunrise and was greeted by fog. Went to work and made the best of it by experimenting with various long exposures to see what would happen. I like the simple directness and impressionist quality of this image.

The pastels and soft feel of this are terrific...nice, calming abstract quality to this.

Since the breaking wave is the main subject, I wish it was fully contained in frame but the mood and tones here are wonderful.

Jim,

Simplicity, yet with some structure to hold on to... (unlike some other images we've seen lately...) I really like the timing and how you caught the wave unfolding at that moment. As an alternative, I'm wondering what this would be like with less sky. I can see a crop where the subtle pink sky occupies a similar amount of space as the grayish water does at the bottom - sort of sandwiching that abstract wave action. Even as is, I'm liking this very much. Nice work.

The simplicity of this is powerful. Beautiful complimentary pastels, soft light, subtle wave motion and the wide open feel of the scene are very compelling. I REALLY like this and can easily see it as a large print in a gallery on the coast.

This is very nice Jim, and you've certainly succeeded in your impressionist efforts. I like the minimalist nature of this best, and the colors second best.

It's beautiful I admire how you isolated the elements to something so simple and so powerful.
