When dreams come true

Hello all!

It's been a while since I posted something, so it's time to get back in the game. I saw a lot of incredibile images on NPN lately and I feel I'm standing among giants (and looking up of course). Congrats to all of you for the dedication!

I've just returned from a 4 day trip into one of the most famous national parks in my country, Retezat. It was foggy most of the time, but the sky cleared up a few times allowing, in this case, for some standard alpen glow. Not something you haven't seen before, but it was a cool moment to experience. Any comments are appreciated.

450d, Tokina 12-24, f10, blend of 3 exposures, the difference in the colour of the sky is natural and the motion of the grass in the fg was unavoidable as the light lasted for aprox. 1 min

There is a larger version too

Beautiful Image, looks like a fantastic place to hang out. I'd love to be there now. Can't wait for those conditions here.

Again fantastic Image.

That is a gorgeous image. I love the centered reflection and peak, especially how the peak fits so snugly in the patch of water. The greens and reds are a great bonus.

beautiful! could be easily mistaken for the california sierra... Retezat, who would have thought that. My friend Greenpeace photographer Marcus Mauthe just recently went there. Most folks would probably not anticipate its not THAT easy to come up with pleasing images like that by american standards in that region. I checked your website, too - quite exciting to see such a good imagery about Romania's landscape. you photograph wolves and bears, too?

Hey, Georg! Thanks. You're right, it's not easy. It usually involves long hikes, driving on the worst roads and many other challenges specific to my country. But it's worth it. I wish I could have more time to get involved in wildlife photography (lots of bears and wolves in Romania). It's very hard to turn pro doing only nature photography here. But it's a thing I'm working on. Can't wait to see Marcus' images from Retezat. He has a stunning portfolio.

Classic mountain scene, Dorin! Great clarity. The comp feels a bit too sentered to me, but thats a minor nit, cause it's a beautiful shot!

Good use of foreground in this shot to make it more than just a "reflection of a mountain" shot. The pool of water and grass make this shot special. There are just enough clouds in the sky to give some nice texture. Perhaps it's an optical illusion, but I get the feeling that the reflection has slightly more saturation than the sky. It might just be because it's a bit darker (as it should be), and thus showing more color. I would suggest slightly desaturating the reflection of the sky to visually match the sky.

Very nice alpine scene and I like your processing. This looks very natural and, as Georg mentioned, this could be in the Sierras. Nicely done.
