it's long since I post my last image. This is a different subject from my previous: it was shot in 2007 to test my (at that time) new 300 mm. I identified from a previous trekking an area where marmots were present and i decided to go and search. Those April was warm and there were no remaining snow around. I found lots of marmots and i started shooting to some of them in long distance when a small movement captured my attention:at no more that ten meters there were this couple and i almost passed away without notice them.

Western alps, MutterHorn area,
D2Xs,nikon 300mm F-4 @4.5 iso 100 1/200 metering spot.
PP in Cs3 ligths an contrast adj. cropped

c&c welcome.

It is good you spotted them! I like the hilltop position that puts the background OOF.

Nice photo. IMHO you could crop tighter and still show it as a mountain habitat photo. I like shots of marmots where thier environment is part of the image. Thanks for posting.

What makes this image interesting IMO Luca is the diagonal hill slope in the FG and the way the BG is rendered (i.e. smooth but not too blurred to be identified as mountain habitat). I agree a slightly tighter crop (by cropping from left and top) could work.

Nice composition with the diagonal line, good sharpness and DOF. If you know where's the best place to see these, it would be reat if you could let me know as I was planning to research this for a trip later this year. So great shot and thanks for your comment on 'Matriarch'!
