A scene from one of the most incredible places I have ever seen; the well known Ghost town of Kolmanskop, an abandoned mining town in the Namib Desert in Namibia.

Camera Model Canon EOS-5D Mark II
Shutter Speed 3.2 Sec.
Aperture Value f/18.0
ISO Speed 100
Lens EF16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM @ 23mm (+CP, I think)

I love this! The textures on the walls here are wonderful and especially shooting wide enough to include that peeling ceiling. The light also really gives a great feel to the image. Crazy surreal! Nice one

Really great shot, Vincent. I love it. The walls look like the house once had some beauty. Nature will have the final say...

Wonderful image Vincent, well done. I'd also love to see it printed in B&W on some really good paper.

Ive seen a bunch of shots from this location, but i dont tire of them--would love to visit some day! The soft lemon light on the sand in the doorway makes the shot for me--nice!

I agree with Stan - seen many photos of this place, but have not tired of them yet. The house looks like it has been flooded with sand instead of water. What an intriguing place. Your composition is very nice and the light coming in through the door is terrific.

Wow, this looks almost like a composite - not technically, but because the elements are so different from each other. Looks just great - love the warm brown/red colors.

Vincent, I know this exact room! I totally agree, this is one of the most fantastic places ever. you have done it justice with this image. The warm kith matches the mood, and I am glad you found some sand without footprints for your foreground! That can be a real challenge.

A really fine presentation of the best of Kolmanskop. I like the composition in 1/3s. Ditto what Winnie said about footprints which were a real problem when I was there.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a Photoshop composite image. It's even more special being real. Great light and composition.

I too thought the thumbnail was a composite concept wwhich doesn't do justice to the image presented. First thing I noticed after noticing it is not a composite is the lack of footprints, and I wonder - how did you get in? I think I can hazard a guess. But it begs the question. Great capture. :toast:
