Winter's Touch II

Camera's been collecting dust so I'm having to go backwards a bit. This is back from the after Christmas trip with Jimmy. I posted a horizontal version that some of you may remember. That one captured the falling snow, but this one the snow had tapered off and the ss was longer so there's no falling snow.

Curious to your thoughts about color, contrast, etc.

Thanks for your comments and critique!

Lon's touch maybe.... I love the way you showcase trees in their natural environment. The snow falling sure adds that great atmosphere to an already great composed image. What would you do without trees Lon?
What would any of us do.....
Thanks for sharing
Great image

Contrast looks good. I would expect the image to have less given the amount of snow falling. The snowy back wall separates the comp nicely. Great layers here.

As always, I enjoy your tree, woods, and forest images. I like the textures,
colors, and strong foreground here, plus the main subject being off center.
Well done, Lon.

This is great. The layers going back into the image are really nice. The tone of the colors and the contrast look like I'm there seeing this with my own eyes. The large version is impressive and full of detail. This is beautiful work Lon.

Detail, mood and composition really impress Lon. Certainly nothing wrong with the color or contrast that I can see. The color palette is understated and that helps create the mood I think. Contrast seems sharp to me even with the snow and I like that. For my tastes a landscape image really doesn't get any better than this.

The snow's softening of the light and the 4 layers in the composition put this in the "special" category. You really have a way with structuring a comp!

superb layers and details and colours. a well conceived photograph. i would be interested to see, for the web-presentation - because I'm convinced for a print it might matter less - a little more definition in the BG layers. still, wonderful work!

Another stunner, Lon. Lovely color palette, amazing detail and of course, a very well crafted composition. It's great to see the cliff behind the foliage as it gives the image a sense of location. Great work!

Hi Lon,

I find this peaceful and beautiful, the transition in a naturla gradient from warm to cold colors is amazing.

Lon, the very light snow in the scene allows just enough depth on the FG area to get a clear look at the most detailed section of the photo, which is perfect on this one. To answer your questions, the color, contrast, and saturation all look right on to me.

The different layers of trees make a statement, that is perfectly capped by the rock wall in the background. I love the softness imparted by the falling snow, which creates a lovely mood. A real winner if you ask me.

The colour/contrast works for me Lon as does the dusting of snow on the trees. The transitions in colour from top to bottom of the shot is very nice and looks great.

I like the layering and colors, but overall, the image is not really grabbing me. I think it is the light is a bit contrasty for my tastes.

The range of colors is nice and the details are there, but it seems to lack the vibrancy that we usually see in your images. Still, it's a very nice shot. The problem is Lon, you've set the bar pretty high for yourself, you've spoiled us.

It's all great in the processing regarding contrast but I'm thinking I might see a color cast. Which film where you using? Nice layered arangements Lon.

Great winter scene Lon which is exactly what I need right now with all the heat and humidty here in the NE. What stands out for me though are the layers you have presented here. Beautiful work.... as usual......

What I like here the most are the layers. I also like the moody misty atmosphere. Kind of wish for the falling snow though too. Nice "landscape image" with trees in it!

Very appealing photograph. I really like the contrasting colors of the trees, and how they overylap. The scene is well balanced.
