Sunrise over del Paine

I was lucky in 2008 to travel to South America (photo tour) for about 30 days with two of the great masters, David Muench and Jack Dykinga. David shot 35mm and digital, while Jack shot 4x5. Great photographers and fantastic people too. We were all on the porch at Lago Gray Lodge, hiding from the winds that were howling 60 mph plus (very brutal). Wow, sunrise came over the peaks above the Valle del Frances, Parque Nacional Torres del Paine. It was a magnificent sunrise.

Comments welcome!

I don't need to say that this is a trophy shot. Very nice.

Epic scene Kyle, beautiful light on the Cuernos. Im enjoying the large view. I dont know if it´s my monitor but the blues looks too cyan, easy to fix.

"Trophy Shot", that's a good call! This is extremely beautiful. I might crop off the top mto a pano/semipano. I don't think you need as much of the blue area in the ULC.

I see the greenish tinge in the blues too. I could just be a web thing.

Kyle,

Great drama in the peaks and clouds - the first light gracing the peaks really makes the image for me, including the light on the last peak on the left. Of course it's all ruined knowing you're in the lodge sipping latte's... JK! What an impressive sight, great capture.

I can see a bit of the green/cyan that is being mentioned in the sky. Not a significant issue, but something you could play with. Regardless, this is an awesome capture!

Sharp and fantastic ligths

The blank on FG dont bother me but I think it's irrelevant to this great landscape

Beautiful moment, great light and colors. The heavy shadowline on the bottom of the frame is a little distracting for me, but nothing major. Nice capture.

Thanks everyone, I will work on the green/cyan. My monitor may need some up dating.

Magical light Kyle! I especially like the glow effect on the peaks. The upper left blue portion of the image lacks interest for me, perhaps crop a bit off the top?

Kyle,

I agree with the crop to a pano to add drama and emphasis to the peaks. I would suggest a curves adjustment pulling back on the cyan and possibly up just a tad on yellow. I think you will find the colors will fall together better. It's an easy fix and well worth the time to perfect this beautiful image.

Great fiery lighting of the clouds and peaks for a very catching image. The porch must afford great sunsets also. My eyes keep going to the dangling clouds in the upper left. I would crop them off and thus make the peaks and colorful clouds above them more dominant.
