Hey everyone.

I have not post here for a long time but I was watching you fellows and learn a great deal by reading your comments and advises !

So here it is. Took this shot last Sunday early in the morning.
Shot taken with a Nikon D90, Nikkor 70-300mm, F/5.3, 1/350, ISO: 1600 (low light situation), Hand held.

As always, looking for your comments and advises.
Thanks for looking

Impressive portrait. I like the detail in the image especially the eyelashes. If you have it available you might want to give just a bit more room at the top.

You were close up and personal, must have been fun. :toast:

What an interesting expression! I agree with the suggestion for space above and perhaps in front. In this instance a more open aperture would have helped make the background elements softer and less distracting. I am drawn to the eye and notice what seems to be a reflection of the surrounding greenery. I think a little less saturation in processing would feel more natural.

Hi Eric,

Looks like this was a fun encounter! I like the detail in the facial region of this shot, particularly in the eye region. I'm in agreement with the comments of the others and would add a few other points:

1. If the 70-300 lens you were using here was the VR version, I would recommend backing off on the ISO and living with the slower shutter speed (the VR version of that lens is quite easy to hand-hold at slower shutter speeds). To me this has the "look" of a high ISO shot (tonally compressed) that detracts a little.

2. On my monitor the hair on the neck looks a little over-sharpened. Whenever an image contains many fine lines (like grass or animal hair or fur) you REALLY have to watch the sharpening. In this case, the amount of sharpening that would work well in the facial region would be too much for that neck region (which means you have to use a means of selective sharpening to locally adjust it).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...
