He Robbed from the RRICH...and gave to the POOOR!!
(Monty Python fans will get the title  )

I got up real early for a rare chance to shoot Roxborough State Park (south of Denver) at sunrise Sat morning. I was inspired by Morris McClung's lupine shots from the park a couple weeks back, and when i saw they were opening the park early, and that clouds were a good bet, it was a no brainer to go without sleep. I think Morris and i were the only ones to get there in time for the great sunrise. The wildflower display was fantastic, some of the best variety ive seen. The lupines were the most prolific though. This is at sunrise. Best viewed in a DARK room!
5Dmkii; 17-40; 3exp blend at f/18; ISO 400 (bit of a breeze, had to wait for the quiet moments)
C&C Welcome!

Beautiful shot, Stan. The purples and oranges make for a wonderful color palette. Gorgeous image, must have been a great morning for photography.

Beautiful Image stan. That's one incredible sunrise! I wouldn't mind seeing a crop without the tree on the right, that being said its easier to say when they arn't my pixels...Great job all around :toast:

Stan, this is one of the most beautiful sunrises I've seen in awhile. I would have loved to have had some of those clouds for the coneflower peak a few weeks ago! Stunning...

Absolutely beautiful image Stan...... (BTW - I am a hugh Monty Python fan...... for years). The sky is fantastic but the foreground flowers are the real stars here.

Stan,

Without your name attached to this, I was thinking Rick Lundh or one of the many great PNW photogs - the Gorge, the Cascades, ya know... So it's a great compliment, this is beautiful Stan! A dramatic sky complimented beautifully by the field of lupine. If I had a suggestion, it would be to crop out the heavy tree on the right, but that's a minor point. This is striking!

A glorious display of blooms and light. Not sure about the tree otherwise I can't find anything to fault.

Excellent shot/PP Stan. I stalked this exact hillside for a week straight and never got the sky I hoped for (sunsets). I missed the early open as I was down in CB for the weekend, but glad you made the trek and got the goods! BTW-I kind of like the tree in the LHS-seems to help balance the weight of the image- for me at least...

Stan,
To be honest I'm not much of a flower photographer and don't usually get drawn to these types of image that much, but the combination of wild light and foreground beauty makes this sing! :toast:

You just couldn't leave me a single comp to post, could you?  Man, does that sunrise go well with those lupines! Excellent comp, great color, and that's exactly what the sunrise looked like. Great call, "Mr, Weatherman" on the cirrus clouds moving in at the right time. Great time shooting this beauty with you.

Great light there Stan, I like the left side of the comp but I think the right side is not helping with that cutted tree and the empty lupine area.

Best regards
