Blodgett Creek

Selway-Bitteroot Wilderness. Another from my recent backpacking trip. On our second day, in hopes of camping at Blodgett Lake, we backpacked 9 miles from High Lake, only to find the area around the lake covered with snow and nowhere to camp. So, we turned around and hiked back another 5 miles to camp in this meadow, which was just beautiful. This shot was taken the next morning.

Canon 5DII. 16-35/2.8 @ 20 mm. ISO 100. f/22. ND8. 3 exposures manually blended. C&C appreciated. See LARGER VERSION for best detail.

This is really pretty, Doug. What a great place to wake up to. Might be good you hiked back to camp, otherwise you would not have gotten this shot. I like the light here alot and very nice color. I kind of wish the tree tops were not cut off, but maybe they were just to tall to fit everything in to your liking. Really nice as it is anyways.

A beautiful scene well-rendered, Doug. The multi-colored lichen on the rocks is especially nice in the larger version. You've done a great job blending the exposures in a difficult lighting situation. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a beautiful morning Doug. Fantastic detail in the large version especially the lichen on the rocks. Your blending looks fantastic too.

Great scene, Doug, very nice comp! I kind of agree about the treetops, but that's extremely minor. NIce work!

Wonderful light and a great story. You did a good job on the HDR. The tops of the trees on the left being cut off doesn't bother me.

You might the right stop, Doug. Orange and blue always work for me.
I also like the lichen on the rock for added color and texture. Very well
done.

Doug,

A beautiful mountain scenic. A nicely balanced image of stream, greenery and mountain. Great timing with the light and great job with the processing. No nits or suggestions.

A lovely blue sky landscape. The kind of shot that just makes you wish you were in the wilderness.

I'm envious of you hiking in Montana, let alone coming up with a shot like this. The comp is very nice and I can almost hear the water. This one is easy to connect with.

Hi Doug, This is fantastic image. Nicely balanced light, good interest right through the image.
Worth the hike I think. :)

Just beautiful. Rocks and water make for a great foreground that leads you into the frame. The light on the mountains makes the scene come alive. Glad you hiked back to this spot so that you could share it with us.

Love the low perspective and the slow smooth shutter speed here.  The peak int he BG is just a bit too bright for my tastes.
