Vermillion Sunrise #2

Here is a shot of the Vermillion Lakes in Banff Alberta, during early spring while the water is still very low, the larger mountain is Mount Rundle, and the smaller is Tunnel mountain a very popular destination for photographers, this place is shot to death even by me, but its a great place for a nature photographer to practice....

This is wonderful, Simon! The trees give one a sense of scale of Mount Rundle, and those reflections are beautiful. It's certainly easy to see why it's visited so often - such an inspiring scene. Nice work.

Simon I like the various lower pools reflecting the nice sky colors. I think I would crop off a bit of sky.

I agree with Matt's suggestion to crop off a bit of the sky, as the FG is really interesting and the top portion of the sky doesn't add a lot. Nice composition and colors.

I like it, but also like the mountains cropped and just the foreground puddles. Lovely scene.

Simon,

These foreground pools are something I haven't seen before and for that I think you've got a pretty different and successful take of the Vermillion Lakes and Rundle landscape. I might agree with a top crop, but only because that little patch of blue up top just seems to be out of place. Also, and it's probably just me, but this seems a little strong with the purple/lavender, mostly on Rundle - but that's pretty minor. Otherwise, you've got a beauty from Alberta.

It looks like trying to rescue highlights has made a mess of some of the sky, which is less noticeable if you crop down a little bit from the top. The reflecting foreground pools are definitely a sweet addition to your take on this iconic location.
