Pale Pink Lilies V

The forth rendition from the second session with this stem. I ahd to flip back and forth to make sure I hadn't just posted this. I did flip this image for it's final composition.

All location, camera, and post processing information posted earlier. Only slight variation would be in the Photoshop/nik filters processing.

Another excellent image, Steve. My first thought was to flip back to the previous post, too. They're quite similar, except I like the placement of the buds in this one better - better balanced. Very sweet series. :toast:

This one may be my favorite of the series, Steven. Really nice interplay of color and line. Just wonderful.

Steven: This is the winner for me. Its a small point but in this one there are no stems crossing the main flowers making this a just enough cleaner comp that it would be the one I would choose to put on the wall. Great series. I really enjoy how you work a subject. >=))> :toast:

Thank you Kathy, yup. Thank you Doug, Bill, David. Bill, I thought I might have cooked myself with the post before the last, but after working this one, I thought, okay, I think I have one that might follow well.

I work with what they give me, much like the seniors I used to work with. Some seniors just have a way of playing with you and the camera, and one capture leads to another idea for a capture. And yeah, most of the time the senior like this was a girl senior. More inspirational.

Once again, well done! The overall presentation in this series has been excellent but I think it's the lighting that puts them over the top.

I like this one too Steven and I agree with Bill that I prefer the composition in this to any of the others and for the same reason. I like the light in all of them and this is certainly no exception. Beautiful image.

Another beauty, Steven. This series reminds me of botanical illustrations even with the high contrast, which I like very much.

Nice. Incredibly rich details and awesome dof control which is the hallmark of your work. Great capture Steven as usual.

Thank you Mark and Pat. Mark the lighting is north window light with the aid of two white walls and a white ceiling. I use my wife's handmirror to add some directional highlighting. I have found for most of my captures with the black bg fabric, that underexposing the capture by 1 to 1/2 or more stops provides the punch.

Thank you Ian for the complement.

Thank you Michael, but two toasts and I would be toasted! I'm a cheap date.

Thank you Bruce. The sharp focus and dof courtesy of the Liveview feature on my 5DMII, zoomed in to 5X to 10X, after selecting the area to zoom in on. Then I use a Hoodman Loupe with 3X magnifier for additional critcal focusing. Before this, I either relied on PP (P*** Poor) manual focusing or autofocus guessing. The use of Liveview with the Hoodman has opened up new doors for me. Oh, I still occasionally blow the focus, but that just means I shouldn't have been :toast: ed
