Dune Lines

Whilst processing this (in color) it just did not work out the way I had envisaged it when I was on that dune. Converting it to B&W did change the image completely though. Normally I do not ‘sanitize’ my images, but in this case I cleaned up some small specks of grasses and debris on the slopes of the dunes. I would love hear your views on this image as it is a bit of a ‘try-out’.

Very interesting shapes for a desert. Has a very fine art appeal to it. The dark foreground leading to the light background is extremely cool.

Very cool image Vincent. I like how the lines on the dunes are diagonal to the image but parallel to the slope of the dunes. The details and textures shown in the larger version are excellent. :toast:

Your comp with the excellent variety of lines makes this work extremely well. And as stated, the tones are well done too.

B&W sure looks like the right choice here, Vincent. Very start geometry and image as a result.

Vincent,

The graphics and geometry here are striking; lines, shadows and the tonal range is excellent too.

Maybe it's the blowing sand, or the foreground dune is soft, or something, but because of the sheer graphic nature of this I'm wishing for more sharp detail and DOF throughout. It's not a major deal, but I think might be more impressive. I'm suspecting blowing sand, the long focal length and relatively long ss contibuted. But then again, it's just an opinion.

Vincent,

I really like this image. I particularly like the the triangles in the different planes in the image. But I also like the tonal values and textures. For my tastes this is very fine work.
