This image captured in Antelope Canyon May of 2010. This beautiful slot canyon has all of the mystery and beauty you could ever hope for. Gorgeous light and color abounds for all...but I warn you, your camera will need a major cleaning when you exit.
No filters or effects added.

Welcome to NPN Melissa, and beautiful post. I really like the way this is "framed" by black, and the somewhat sensuous forms and curves are beautiful. Very nice.

Lovely image. Deep rich colors. I've seen similar photos before and it always makes me want to be there.

Fire and embers would be an alternative name. The curves resemble flames and are emphasized by the dark surroundings. Well done!

This is a bit different for Antelope. I like the flame-like nature of the comp. I could see cropping the lighter area at the top to make the flame illusion even stronger.

Melissa,

Welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery! It may not surprise you to learn that I believe the Slot canyons are the most represented imagery we see here posted in this gallery. I can't speak for others, but love viewing these slot images no matter how many I may have scene. The geology is fascinating, the graphics, lines, lights and colors are just simply amazing. And I must say that your take from the Antelope canyon is fantastic! Many different ways to describe and interpret this and the burning flame is a good one. I see a passage way, a portal if you will.

Now Tony is a mentor, an idol and a friend... but I'll have to disagree and say don't crop the top! I love the subtle, sort of muted rainbow of colors up there; almost like some divine light or something...

Anyway, this is a beautiful image from the slots and you should be proud! So welcome aboard and thanks for already stepping in with some comments! I know folks appreciate it and will respond.

Lon

Nice intimate frame job Melissa. I like the firery warmth that could also pass for some bad indigestion too. The dark red layers and texture grab me the most! :toast:
