Flangetail

The Common Flangetails (Ictinogomphus pertinax) are fairly large DF and tend to intimidate other DF when they are around. It is amusing to look at them side-on as they seem to have rather thick luscious lips.

D90 300mmF4 iso800 1/1250 F8 tripod cable release, windy late afternoon. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

Nice, I like it when DF's are in the obelisk position. The coloring on this one is really cool. I like the diagonal composition and the square crop. Nicely done.

Very funny grasp there as if he/she is asleep. Nice background and good head to tail sharpness there, Gary :toast:

Never seen before Gary,Very nice, good details sweet bg,subject pops out, thanks for sharing. One question though, would this image be stronger if there was a bit more space in front of the DF and less behind or just crop it to a vertical image because of the pose. :toast: :toast:

Borgesius:
I have experimented with different crops and find that the square crop works well with DF images. In fact most of my recent posts have been square crops - actually I would be interested to hear others opinion on whether the square crop works for them.

Great markings and this DF and I really like the diagonal pose. Nice detail and the two toned bokeh in the BG is wonderful. Well done with this odonata. I had to look that one up.
